Hum, Sam Levitz furniture or Samuel Levitz? Are you as confused as I am? If I do a search on Bing, Yahoo, or MSN, I seem to always come up with the furniture store in Arizona.
It is actually a simple answer. Scores of people each day chat about the furniture company online through newsgroups, blogs, articles, ads, etc. Google and the other search engines love this type of relevancy.
My team recently brought this to my attention. They said, "Sam, since you are the BIG internet branding stud, why don't you want to take the top ranking on Google search rather than letting Sam Levitz Furniture snag it?"
I had to think about that question for a while. The question itself drives deep into the ego.....Should I care that there is a Sam Levitz taking a higher position in Google than my name of Samuel Levitz?
Hell yes I care about the ranking! It's my name, I am the Internet Wizard of Samuel Levitz and I am taking my rightful position back.
Am I determined? Yep. Here is what I am going to do. Starting today, I am going to rock the rankings, so much so that the Sam Levitz Furniture store won't know what hit them, nor how to compete with The Samuel Levitz (Insert evil chuckle here).
