Pool Table Light: Clear Picture Of The Game

By Pamela Smith

In earlier years, pool or billiards was usually considered a game believed in a seedy under-lit pool halls infused in thick cigarette smoke with shady characters of all stripes betting on a languid parlor game. The movie, The Color of Money, which starred Tom Cruise and the late Paul Newman, whose role of a veteran pool shark won for him his only Academy acting award, confirmed in the mind of the public the dubitable nature of pool. You need to develop a skill to play pool and have plenty of light to play it properly. Hence, there is every reason to have a pool table light.

With its newfound respectability, you can see pool games in ESPN and the best players earn hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes and more on product endorsements. You will notice these games aired on TV that the pool halls are very well lighted, which is pretty similar to indoor basketball games at night.

A pool table light is there to provide adequate luminescence for the playing surface, the billiard balls, the cue stick, and everything involved in the game to be visible. They also produce an atmosphere enhancing the playing experience and the surrounding decor. Because of longstanding prejudices, many believe that an old ceiling light fixture is enough to illuminate the pool table and everything else on it.

But just liken in any work activity, a focused source of light along with the ambient lighting given off by flush-mount or semi-flush ceiling fixtures are needed. This will illuminate the playing surface better and maybe even improve play. The added balance to the subtle style of the decor is a bonus.

Direct and indirect lighting fixtures are no same matters entirely. When you play the game of pool, this needs utilization of direct luminescence. A blinding spotlight over the pool table is not necessary for this purpose, illumination on the playing surface that does not cause glare or eye strain is what is necessary.

Hanging lamps or pendants are the most common lights for pool tables. With the basic design of pool tables being long and narrow, the lights must conform to the design. A billiard lamp as long as a billiard table is desired, but pool tables normally measuring eight feet long, this is not practical. A small light fixture over a pool table light is the sensible thing to have.

Just be sure that the light is at the center over the table. Players want see clearly the corner pockets in this game of angles. Shadows that smaller pool table light fixtures cause affect the outcome of the game, besides producing a gloomy atmosphere that harks back to the seedy period of this sport.

Planting Shrubs And Trees Before Material Arrives

By Marshall Clewis

Most of the planting is done in the spring, between the time the frost leaves the ground and the time the leaf buds break on deciduous trees and shrubs. You may plant evergreens a week later as they do not usually start new growth as early as deciduous plants. In the fall, plant evergreens, herbaceous perennials and bulbs before the middle of September. Plant deciduous trees and shrubs a little later, when their leaves are ready to fall.

Care on Arrival

When the shrubs arrive from the nursery, unpack them and report immediately any discrepancy in the order or condition of the stock. If the material cannot be planted immediately, dig a trench and pack the roots close together in it, covering them with earth packed down firmly to exclude air. Evergreens that have the roots tightly balled and burlapped may be stood in the shade and sprinkled with water but not soaked.

Digging and Filling the Holes

Dig the holes before you prepare the plants to go in them. It is very important to keep the roots moist at all times, and they will dry out if you have them lying in the sun or wind while you dig the hole. Dig the holes wide enough that the roots can be spread out naturally, and deep enough that 3 to 4 inches of good topsoil can be placed in the bottom and still allow the plant to be set about 1 inch lower than it grew before.

Hold the plant in place while you fill in good topsoil over the roots. Gently shake the plant up and down two or three times to help settle the earth around the roots. Then tamp the soil down firmly. Soak it with water and as soon as it has settled fill the hole with soil; leave a saucerlike depression around the plant to hold future water, which it should receive at least once a week until it is established.

When planting evergreens do not remove the burlap from the roots. Place topsoil in the bottom of the hole to hold the ball at the right height. Remove the cord or nails that hold the ball together and roll the burlap back gently into the bottom of the hole, where it will rot in time. Then add soil and water as above.

Bracing

Small trees should be staked and large trees guyed with wires at the time they are planted to avoid being swayed by the wind. Make sure that the stake does not rub the tree and that wires and ties do not chafe it.

For small trees from 8 to 10 feet tall, drive a 2 x 2 inch hardwood stake (about as long as the tree) firmly into the bottom of the hole before planting the tree. Place the tree 2 to 3 inches from the stake so that the roots are not scraped. After the tree has been planted, tie the trunk to the stake about a foot from the ground and again every 3 feet, using a piece of rubber hose between them in a figure 8 and then making a loop around the two.

For guy-wiring larger trees, drive three or four short stakes into the ground about 5 feet from the tree on opposite sides. So that the tree will not be scraped, run the wires through a piece of hose placed around the tree 8 to 10 feet from the ground.

Pruning

Prune deciduous shrubs, shasta daisies and trees at planting, to balance the roots they have lost and to train their shape. When pruning shasta daisies and trees, remove some of the branches close to the trunk. Leave the main leader going straight up, with branches 6 to 12 inches apart ascending but alternating evenly around it. Remove broken branches and any that are crossed.

When pruning shrubs, remove weak, twisted or broken branches at the base. Also, cut back the strong canes to a point just above a leaf bud that points outward, so that the new branches will not cross.

Drawer Safes

By Agnes Lamont

If you don't know what a drawer safe is, then I assume you have been lucky enough to have never had your home burgled! Until last year I had never heard of a drawer safe but all that changed when my house was broken into by thieves who took possessions of financial and also of sentimental value which no amount of money could ever compensate.

By having a drawer safe in my home I could have prevented the theft of these items as drawer safes are hidden safes which means that the thief will not know where the safe is and even if they do manage to locate it, they will be unable to open the safe which means the contents remain safe and secure.

Companies who supply drawer safes for the home market specialize in the design and installation of hidden safes and secret compartments. The most popular models are designed to protect jewelry, cash, passports, handguns and other small items that don't need to be lying around. Often manufacturers call this hidden safe the "jewelry drawer safe" because most people want to hide jewelry in it.

There are a vast range of drawer safes available to the consumer and I did my research carefully and thoroughly before purchasing. Many drawer safes on the market have easy opening feature which means that it can be opened in about a second! But only the owner will know where it is and how it opens. This means there is no fumbling about with combinations or losing keys; all you need to do is just activate the hidden switch/switches and your safe opens like magic. These safes can be hidden so well that, unless you tell them, your family members won't even know about it.

Most drawer safes are fire-proof and will operate on a 12 volt system making them functional even during a power cut. Also there are a range of switches which will open drawer safes however I don't think it wise to say too much about that on the Internet!

Have you though about other items you could store securely in your drawer safe? Increasingly family medications both prescribed and off the shelf, are being kept in drawer safes. We have all know the consequences of children having unsupervised access to prescription drugs therefore many parents will buy drawer safes to give peace of mind that their children are unable to gain access to them.

As drawer safes are small, compact and unobtrusive many hotel chains have decided to replace conventional cupboard safes with a drawer safe. Not only does this create more space in the main closet or cupboard, but has the added advantage of holding a variety of laptop sizes. With rising real estate costs this adds value which offsets the initial cost of purchasing the drawer safe and most newly built hotels will most probably have a drawer safe as standard.

Landscape Investment Month October - Rich Spring Dividends

By Kent Higgins

October the month when the verdant garden changes her dress to autumnal shades with a blend of gold. This is a beautiful time of year in the South of Mid-America, when the last splash of color in the garden mingles with the colors of foliage brought out by frosts. The geographical location of the South makes the countryside and gardens truly the crossroads of Nature's Paradise.

Where else can a gardener grow plant materials in the North, East, South and West, and have better than average success? This overlapping of vegetative zones contributes immeasurably to the riot of autumnal colors found both in our garden and throughout our countryside. Though tempted to pause and feast on all this fall beauty, the wise gardener realizes the importance of October as investment month. There are many jobs to be done that will give rich dividends next spring.

Bulbs - October is the month to make the heaviest plantings of bulbs and glory bower vine for spring blooms. As most of these will remain undisturbed for years, thorough preparation of the soil is essential. Proper drainage is necessary to prevent rotting of the bulbs and glory bower vine. The right planting depth is often debatable, and a good yardstick for this is to cover the growing point to a depth that is twice the greatest dimension of the bulb.

Narcissus is the generic name of one of the largest groups of easy to grow and early to bloom spring bulbs.

Although the common name daffodil has been used in speaking of the whole lot, this name is more correctly used when speaking of the trumpet varieties. These bulbs prefer a soil that is not too heavy and has good drainage. The physical condition of the soil is greatly improved by adding sharp sand as the planting area is prepared. Liberal amounts of bone meal should be dug into the soil to provide a source of long lasting food. Well-rotted manure placed deep in the hole with a layer of top soil between it and the bulbs will always improve the quality of flowers. Manure will cause bulbs to rot if it is in direct contact with them.

Ideas For Outdoor Patio Furniture

By Bart Chapman

One thing that you can invest on when it comes to your home is a good set of outdoor patio furniture. The patio is usually the first thing that you or a guest sees when they come into your home. The patio is an integral part of your home that needs to be artfully and tastefully furnished. This will also help a lot when you are hosting outdoor activities, for instance.

First, do some work to determine the manufacturer of the furniture. It may be a lot cheaper for you if you buy directly since there is no middleman or retailer involved. However, one bit of an advantage with getting it from a retailer is that they are supposedly more likely to provide redress should you have any complaints.

If you prefer to shop for your furniture online, you can save more in terms of time and money. However, you also need to be on the lookout for the quality of the website so that you will have a pretty good idea of whether you will be able to easily communicate with them or track your orders. One thing to consider, too, is that you may not easily get in touch with manufacturers when it comes to online retailers.

When choosing the kind of wood your outdoor patio furniture will be made of, some manufacturers recommend cedar. This is largely due to cedar's weather-resistant properties. It is also less likely to crack or to morph.

Cedar is also lightweight and is easy to craft. But cedar is also a strong wood. It retains a cool temperature despite warm or sunny conditions because of its good thermal co-efficient. This is a good aspect when you have benches, for instance.

Outdoor patio furniture that is crafted out of cedar wood is also resistant to fungus and bacteria. It also has natural oils that protect it from decay and rot and makes it last even as it is exposed to the elements.

This is just one tip to ensure that you have long-term patio furniture which, will need little maintenance. It is important to look after the upkeep of your furniture, however. For cedar-made furniture, there seems to be no need for finishing. Many furniture owners find that letting the furniture naturally age seems to be the ideal course.

Wood sealers or oils may be applied as an additional measure to preserving the furniture. They help the wood breathe as opposed to paint. Paint is generally not recommended since they tend to create a mess as the wood's natural oils are released. When exposed to sunlight, peeling and blistering may occur and may ruin the furniture's appearance.

Finding The Right Lawn Mower

By Kevin Young

After years of saving, you have came up with enough down payment that you can finally afford to move from that downtown apartment to the suburbs. You finally get everything unpacked and the inside of the house is looking great. You walk outside into your own yard where the trees, shrubs and flowers are looking great and think to yourself, wow, management sure needs to do something about the grass. It is really getting over grown, when suddenly you realize that you are management and you need a lawn mower.

When you get to the hardware store you realize that there may be more to buying the right lawn mower than you expected. There are several mowers available.

One choice is a human powered push mower. They are a little less expensive than the least expensive gasoline mower and work well on a small lawn. They are very quiet when in operation and cut the grass with a scissor action that helps to avoid the brown tips on the grass. Since your lawn is already a bit out of control, however, these mowers are probably not right for you right now. They do not do well when grass is very tall.

For a somewhat larger lawn, you could choose a lawn mower with a gasoline engine. They take less energy to push and do a good job at cutting grass. Most have a pull rope for starting which is sometime a problem for people who lack the proper strength to start the mower.

These gasoline mowers come in various cutting widths, usually between eighteen and twenty two inches. While the smaller mowers are the easiest to push, the larger ones cut the grass at a quicker pace.

Self-propelled mowers make even less work out of the job of mowing grass. The propulsion for these mowers is powered by the same engine that cuts the grass. Operators walk behind the unit to steer the mower.

Some subdivisions have rules regarding the use of gasoline mowers and due to the noise level that they produce require residents to choose electric mowers. Electric mowers are lighter in weight and much quieter to operate than gasoline mowers. In addition, the operator does not have to use a pull rope to start the mower. Once it is plugged in, just turn on the switch and the mower is working. The major disadvantage is that they have to have a long extension cord to operate. If you are using an electric mower, be sure that you do not mow over the cord.

For larger lawns, you may choose a riding lawn mower. Riding mowers often cut a thirty six to fifty inch swath each pass. They leave the lawn with a very smooth appearance that is not always possible with other mowers. In addition, riding mowers may be used to pull small trailers to carry other landscaping materials. Riding mowers are the most expensive of the mowers.

Since you are now a homeowner with a lawn to care for, you need to be sure that you purchase the correct lawn mower. If you get the correct mower, mowing the lawn does not have to be a chore but can become a part of the joy of owning your own home. You can take pride in the lawn that you take care of by yourself.

Moving Companies Checklist: Three Items That You Should Include On Your Moving To-Do List

By Rachelle Onifelli

Are you moving your house? The relocation tips below can be very helpful.

Here is your moving checklist.

Choosing A Mover:

Picking your moving company is the first step in any move. Contact a few good representatives to evaluate and appraise your move. If you want the mover to do packing too, check for packing charges separately. Also, if your company is paying your moving expenses partially or completely, show the company policy to the agents to determine what services they can perform.

Make sure you compare costs and services between several movers before deciding on one. After understanding each section of the service order, sign in the same.

Consequences Of A Move To Your Taxes:

Ensure that you keep all the documents pertaining to your move safely. When you file your federal return with the IRS, you will be required to have them. You can also get receipts that show how much your old clothing is worth, so you can donate it to charity. You will need them to apply for tax deductions.

Relocating With Minor Dependents:

If you have children, arrange for a farewell party for your children and their friends. Make sure that you pack all children's toys together , so as to enable you to easily unpack them after arriving at your new residence.

Additional Tips:

Tell your post office about your new residence's location. Also, ensure that you notify your friends, relatives, banks, and other utility services such as phone, water, etc. about your movement. It is important to book travel and lodging arrangements in advance so that you and your family don't get left out in the cold.

Make sure that all last minute things are done before you leave. Leaving a place in a good presentable condition can help you save on cleaning costs later.

Swimming Pool Landscaping Application

By Marie Swilley

Swimming Pool Landscaping for either a residential or commercial application for a pool should be carefully designed and constructed in order to be visually appealing and add property value to your home or business. You and your guests should have an enjoyable experience while using the swimming pool.

Although many successful landscape applications for swimming pools are provided by professional landscape architects and other designers, a homeowner or commercial property owner can (with a little research, time, and effort) produce their own flourishing landscape.

Typically, landscape applications for swimming pool landscaping will suggest specific plant types, but it is important to focus on trees, shrubs, and grasses that will adapt well in your specific environment.

Flowers and plants that can thrive in your specific zone should be selected for sustainability purposes. Successful landscape applications flourish due to the plants ability to grow and live in a specific environment. This is typically based upon climate, rainfall amount, sunlight, and soil parameters. Since the landscaper cannot control these elements, it is wise to select plant material that will successfully grow given these elements of the application.

Plant selector materials, both available by hard copy and online, can help the designer select appropriate material.

Successful landscape applications include a variety of trees, bushes, and ornamental grasses. They should be native or adaptable to the location. During plant selection, you should choose items that are visually pleasing, and can also be useful. Typical plant functions not only include visual beauty, but also direct pedestrian traffic and have privacy purposes. Certain plants can be chosen to perform these useful functions.

Other types of additions for your swimming pool landscaping project include privacy fencing, patios, and lounging furniture. While these items should be considered and can add value to your landscape design, the main focus of any design should always be on your plant material.

Usually, multiple designs are considered to provide different planning ideas. Once a final design is chosen, you can begin implementing construction and installation. This can be done either by professional landscaping contractors, or by the homeowner or commercial property owner.

How To Keep Your Rugs Clean

By Jovan Bigorski

A rug in a living space, particularly when it has been placed in a high traffic area, can get very dirty. Rugs collect dust, sand, greasy cooking residue and moisture, all of which affect them adversely. They can look as if they are fading when grime has been worked into the fibers by busy feet - a good clean can work wonders here.

Okay, don't let your "gut feel" get the better of you and simply toss your rugs in the washing machine. Your rugs might turn out worst than being bombarded by busy feet. Proper cleaning is needed.

A simple method is vacuum cleaning. For rugs that are too delicate because of a thin fabric or certain material such as a Flokati and leather shag rugs, a good tap and shake out are all they need. Those that are made from bamboo and sisal can benefit from both vacuuming and shaking out to rid of their dust. If a rug is too big, shaking it out is difficult unless you have the strength of Sheena, the Warrior. So what you can do is hang it by a railing or a fence and use a stick to beat the dust out. Cleaning your rug will primarily depend on how high-traffic its area is. Regular is the keyword, but if the rug is in a special by-occasion only room, you can do it on a less regular basis. The important thing is to clean every now and then. If however, the rug is in a 24-hour zone, cleaning more than regularly, say twice a day might be necessary to keep it spic and span.

When there's a spill on the rug, clean it off immediately. Avoid letting the carpet absorb the stain that it will be difficult to remove on your own. Professional cleaners can do the job, but if you can do it yourself, then why spend some money? Clean the stained area at once. Blot it with a paper towel. Do not rub to prevent the stain from spreading. A simple blotting motion is enough. The paper towel will absorb the dirt.

If the stain leaves a mark on the area rug, you can use cleaning products such as a dishwashing detergent and the natural way, vinegar or baking soda mixed with water. They are effective stain removals.

You can also use oxygen cleaners for dirt removal on synthetic rugs. Do not use this kind on wool and satin, as it will damage the rugs' fabric. Even with a synthetic one, make sure to test on a hidden spot before doing the cleaning to make sure that the color will not be affected. Rinse the spot after and let it dry.

Other methods of cleaning rugs include dry powder cleaners which are good for surface stain removal - the powder absorbs the dirt. You should vacuum the rug afterwards to get rid of the cleaning powder. Dry foam cleaners and steam cleaning are also used to clean rugs.

Chuck Rosenthal, Fine Art

By Penny Logan

Chuck Rosenthal paints many subjects in glowing oil paintings and pastels. Probably best known for his still lifes, Mr. Rosenthal also does some stunning landscapes and very interesting studies of everyday people in everyday situations that make you wish you were there.

Sometimes you look at a painting and you wonder about the artist who painted it. What is his idea of art?

Artists willing to let us viewers know a little bit about their thoughts on art write an "artist's statement" and Mr. Rosenthal has done just that. The artist says,

"I believe that truly Fine Art encompasses every aspect of the visual experience, from dramatic, or at least, interesting placement of the elements in the painting to the truest atmospheric values within the capability of the artist. All of this is intended to create an impact on the viewer that is so real as to provoke an emotional response. Strong contrasts of form and lighting are an important component.

"Looking at the long view of the development of western art one would see that there is a progression of stiff, awkward drawing gradually developing, over time, into the most sophisticated and articulate forms imaginable.

"Fortunately, traditional values in art are undergoing a revival in our time and I am greatly pleased to be a part of it."

In 1963 Chuck Rosenthal set out to become a commercial artist. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City. He wanted to learn how to draw in order to do illustrations, but three months of study caused the idea of commercial art to go out the window and he decided to pursue fine art. Part of this decision was due to his teacher and mentor, Morton Roberts, who was an excellent illustrator and fine artist himself.

In his first year at the National Academy he was awarded a six-month scholarship to the Academy. Several years later he was awarded the Dr. Weller student prize at the Academy. In addition, though the efforts of Daniel Greene, one of his teachers, he was awarded a scholarship membership in the prestigious Salmagundi Club, America's oldest arts and letters club, and won an honorable mention in the 1968 scholarship membership competition.

During the intervening years, Mr. Rosenthal painted off and on, learning, but unable to devote the kind of time necessary to achieving a career in fine art. Progress toward the possibility of achieving a career was further delayed by illnesses in the family over a period of about 15 years.

The goal of a career in fine art finally blossomed after Mr. Rosenthal left New York City and moved to Clearwater, Florida. Since the year 2000, several awards at local art shows have come his way, including two first places and a third place. One of his paintings hangs at Clearwater City Hall. His pastel work of a local landmark, Clearwater Memorial Bridge was selected for an international juried competition.

Many of his paintings hang at Park Place Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri.

Color Trends Look For Comfort & Hope

By John Parks

A vital yet confusing task to do for home decorating is choosing the color scheme.

Colors are symbolic in many ways. They depict a mood, send a message and reflect a personality.

It is understandable to see why neutral colors are the rage now, what with the recession and major global crisis. Subdued and calm are the colors to root for these times, hues reflecting comfort, safety and familiarity. An assurance in some ways for the difficult times we're facing.

Complementing the neutral shades are sparks of bright colors like yellow, crimson, green and blue. These vivid colors are signs of optimism for the future. An encouragement that things will turn out fine. It's common to see furnishings in a neutral shade accented with a bright hue.

Brown is recognized everywhere. It is after all part of the natural color scheme. However, this year, chocolate browns in carpets and area rugs are being overshadowed by mocha, caramel, beige and tan.

As brown is creeping its way out, gray is creeping in. Even in fashion, gray clothes, shoes and other accessories are making a comeback. Gray in home decors can be a soft shade to a dusky charcoal tone. Paired with a metallic shade, gray becomes a striking color.

Green, the color of eco-friendly design, also is growing in popularity in nearly every shade. Some designers predict it will be found in everything from curtains, area rugs and upholsetery to kitchen and bathroom countertops.

The black and white combo is a long-standing color of choice, especially of the minimalists and contemporary homeowners. This combination is big in Europe and is now becoming the same in America. Other well-liked combination (or contrasts) are acid green, red and pink. Red and pink in particular, are chosen for international causes - HIV/AIDS and breast cancer campaigns, respectively and hence, make for a more meaningful color choice.

Violet has popped up in accessories as a surprise crossover color from the Goth trend among high school teens. Yes, that purple-black on your daughter's nail polish and eyeliner is turning respectable, moving into such hues as wine, true purple and violet. These deeper, edgier shades are pushing out recent affinities for softer lavender in home decor.

What then is another color that joins brown as the "out-going" hue? Yellow is one, especially if used as a stand-alone color. Gold is great alternative and indeed a perfect fit given the desire for economic stability. When we speak of gold, we can't help but think of money after all.

The best thing about this color trend is the strong hold of neutral shades that are said to be the perfect backdrop for every color out there. So whether you choose violet, crimson, gold or gray, with a neutral tone to match, you will never have to worry about a mismatched, awful look.

Real Estate Lands: A Risky But Profitable Invesment

By Jaso Myers

Many real estate gurus are against venturing on raw lands. Supporting their logic they stress that this sort of investment will not give a dependable cash flow on short time basis but take years before making a profit if there is any to come.

The risks of investing in real estate lands chiefly lies if the investors are confined with ownerships for a long period of time without resorting to developmental schemes in them. This may not cut back taxes on the bare lands and will burden the owners till they make necessary actions to build up bankable projects.

In addition, these lands are subjected to regional rules and to make them lucrative many preliminary steps have to be confirmed with the concerned authorities. The local governments have the last say on how to utilize the bare lands and it may take some more time to clear environmental concerns as well. These are the big issues that prompt some gurus to shun off from embarking in raw lands.

Nevertheless, individuals are eager to own lands. Historical proofs indicate that owning bare land was one of the essential activities of people in the early days. But today investors have other considerations to risk, real estate land bargains, which are chiefly not gained by luck.

Demographic analyses are one such primary source that gives out the true value of acquiring raw lands. Certain areas are due to develop because of the growth in the adjacent areas. Population growth rate, link roads between major cities, isolated factories, and many other demographical and geographical indicators raises the assessment of real estate lands many times.

Though this type of investment is involved with many risks, many investors are relying on acquiring them. Nevertheless, they are always relying on demographical analyses before making a move to acquire them and they lose only marginally in the long haul.

Healthful Reasons To Get A Latex Mattress

By Moe Kittaneh

Many people are trying to bring organic products into their lives. You're probably very familiar with organic foods and may have even heard of other products becoming natural as well. However, a new trend might surprise you in the form of organic mattresses - in this case coming in the form of latex mattress, which is fast becoming loved by a growing number of people.

We're becoming more aware than ever of what we contribute to the world in terms of waste. As such, it's no wonder that we're looking to bring organic products into our lives in as many ways as possible. When we buy things that are natural, we get a good feeling in knowing that we are making an effort and trying to be responsible for ourselves.

From latex's name, many people don't realize that it is a natural product. However, it is derived from the sap of rubber trees, and we know many of the other products made with this material to be organic. Latex is just the same. Of course, as good as you'll feel about yourself, there are other, more personal reasons to get the mattress as well.

If you have allergies, you have a great deal to gain from a latex mattress. You might have noticed that your old mattress left you exposed to all sorts of things like dust mites. Now, the mattress actually works to keep them away. With just a bit of occasional and simple cleaning, you'll no longer have to worry about suffering the way you did before.

Understandably, a rubber mattress doesn't exactly sound comfortable. Yet it is, and very much so. Many people sing the praises of them as much as they can. This is because they give you the kind of support and just the right level of firmness that you'd normally have to search for quite a while to find in normal mattresses.

On top of that, you'll feel comfortable no matter what time of year it is. No more freezing in the winter or being too hot in the summer. Latex breathes very easily, meaning the mattress stays at well regulated temperature in any season. This saves you a lot of trouble having to bring in or kick off several layers of blankets.

Of course, when it comes down to it, latex mattresses are a bit more expensive. Still, when you look at all they have to offer, the price is more than justified. You get a mattress that's easy to care for and feels good to lie on. But more importantly, you know that you're taking a step to help improve the environment.

Reconstructing Grout Over Repairing

By Ian Kleine

Grout repairing consists of chipping the old grout away with a device, place in new grout, and then reapplying the same steps employed earlier during the time when the grout was first made. Repairs usually just run along the same side of reconstruction; but unlike the latter, repairs can only cover a small portion of the entire area of the affected grout. Repairs require that you have the exact grout material used in the original grout, or else, you will end up with differently toned grout. This would destroy the aesthetic value of the surface and ruin it.

Reconstruction of grout, on the other hand, requires that you destroy and remove the whole grout area in the surface of the tiled floor. Whether that grout was in good shape or bad shape, it is subjected to complete removal and clearing out. You can change your grout after wards, whether you want to stick to your old grout or find a new color. Reconstruction is also recommended if you want to change your grout to a more stain-resistant variety.

So the question is, which one is better for you: reconstruction or repair? Of course, just considering one out of the two options without giving thought to this issue would have you a bill a hundred dollars too expensive. There are conditions to be fulfilled.

You should only consider repairing if the other parts of the grout are still good, with no need for immediate maintenance, or if you have your grout material with you. Repairing costs little cash, and would impact that surface a little when it comes to functionality. You don't have to close off the whole surface, just that piece of surface. It also dries faster and is easier to do for those who want DIY.

Reconstruction is recommended for floors and surfaces above 2-5 years old. Chances are, your grout is of the inferior quality that poorly resists stains and can cause accidents in the future. It's a case of fix it now, and fix it all. The good thing is you can change your grout color, your grout's resistance and repair any local damage. This is the perk of reconstruction

Contemporary Furniture Allures

By Kelly Kim

Contemporary home furniture is a great way to attain a look that best mirrors urban living. Its bare and simple charm can be created for every living space in the home, from the patio all the way to the master's bedroom. The design offers the freedom to play with colors from unbiased to bold and everything falling into place. People who prefer a neat and cool approach to their home interior will certainly find fulfillment in the standard of minimalism inherent in contemporary furniture.

The look fastens on a lot of natural lines, wide spaces and cool, textured hues. An earth tone usually functions as a foundation on which all other incorporated colors will be based. Hues play a hefty part as they add depth and dimension while maintaining a light, refreshing feel to the room. Aside from color, textures achieved through ornate stones and glass lends their charm to complement the hues. An accent will be any bold-colored piece that naturally adds zest to the ensemble.

Black and white are two of the common favorites for anybody looking to achieve a contemporary look. Nice architectural infusions are also appreciated, as well as any assorted inspiration that the designer may help him too. The versatility of contemporary furniture remains one of its strongest points and is a deciding factor for those who choose to take its path. Its ease also makes it increasingly preferable compared to the more complicated and accessorized effects created by traditional and country bedroom furniture.

Typical concepts of room decoration which often consist of lamps, tables, pictures and other ornate decors are excluded in any modern home where beauty is, instead, defined by edges, points, lines, space arrangements and color.

Compared to the warmer appeal of a classic interior, contemporary designs are from time to time viewed to be empty and dull. But those who appreciate the peace of wide open space will find a better home in a minimalist environment provided by this modern theme.

A major foundation attraction of the style is its clean and neat result. With a contemporary theme, one will find lots of storages areas such as cabinets and drawers where the homeowner gets to keep personal paraphernalia so they don't interfere with the attempt to create a unified look. Basically, contemporary furniture calls for all things hidden from view. Thus, there is a perfect justification for the architectural infusions via the storage structures that serve both aesthetic and useful ends of the design.

Arthritis Relief Is Miraculous From Massage Chair Therapy

By Joel Smith

Arthritis affects millions of people each year worldwide. It can cause debilitating effects for the person who is afflicted, causing varying degrees of symptoms and disability. A particularly difficult arthritis is when it affects the lower lumbar. This can lead to stiffness in the lower back and sometimes severe pain. Treatments can range from physical therapy, massage chair therapy to surgery on the extreme end.

Arthritis in the lumbar spine, or the lower back, is a common problem and one which can cause a variety of symptoms. Lumbar spine arthritis is more common in older people; however, it does affect people in other age groups. Some people are more prone to developing arthritis in the lower back than others. Those that are obese, those who are involved in heavy labor, or those who have suffered a previous injury to their spine are more prone to this condition.

Your spine is interconnected with the cervical discs. This cervical column creates your spine. The individual discs are held together by soft tissues. These soft tissues must be strong enough to take on the weight of the body. Concentration of force in the lower spine can be problematic and cause arthritis. Other conditions include disc degeneration and spinal stenosis.

When you have arthritis of the lumbar spine you will experience stiffness in the lower back. Sometimes the stiffness can result in severe and prolonged pain. You may notice when you rise out of bed your back is stiff. This can also happen after strenuous activity or when using your lower back muscles more than usual.

If lumbar facet arthritis worsens, it can result in the joints forming bone spurs and the inflammation of the soft tissue. These joints contain nerves around them. They can become pinched resulting in a disorder called spinal stenosis. This condition is often found in patients with arthritis of the lower back.

The treatment options that are offered will depend on the severity of the persons symptoms. Typical treatments most often start with simple measures. This is to be sure that the patient can tolerate them and find relief. Some of the methods of treatment include physical therapy, chiropractic care, anti-inflammatory medicine, weight loss, massage therapy and if necessary spinal fusion surgery. Surgery is a last resort. The doctor may not have a choice, if the less invasive procedures do not prove to be effective.

Chiropractors and doctors of osteopathic medicine rely on massage chairs to help their patients recover from these conditions. These doctors focus on helping the soft tissues become flexible once again. The physician may establish a routine to help the patient counteract the effects of arthritis.

The routine may include changes to your diet and exercise. An important part of any routine is consistency. The beginning of the routine is the hardest as the stiffness is the greatest. You have to have enough willpower to overcome the initial hurdle of pain to gain greater flexibility in the joints.

Massage chairs are used to deliver precise massage to a given area for a specified duration. These doctors will program the massage chair to deliver the type of massage they desire. The massage can be directed to a specific area or region or can be programmed to avoid certain areas or regions. This gives the doctor flexibility in delivering the type of therapy they requires.

Of all the symptoms of lumbar spine arthritis, low back pain can be the most difficult to manage and live with. The constant pain and stiffness can be the cause of much stress and can seriously alter a persons way of life. It is important to recognize symptoms and begin treatment early to ensure that the progression of the disease is slowed down. This is where massage chairs can excel and get you to a more normal routine.

Bedroom Furniture Hardware and Your Home Modified

By Kelly Kim

Modifying your home will require you to make many choices, particularly in the furniture you decide to have. And everything's going to matter right down to the furniture hardware. If you're not an expert on this, there's a good possibility you won't know what to do. You almost certainly won't even know what make good and bad choices, but it's important to realize that getting a good quantity of knowledge on this can save you from unnecessary cost. Furniture hardware can be comparatively classy, so you'll always want to get something you actually want and need as you give your home that promising renovation.

If you only want the best furniture plan, you have to do just that. Plan. That means don't go out and be buying anything that catches your eye. Unless you get too lucky, you'll end up regretting all those impulse purchases. Do plan the direction you want to go with your design. Remember that a good one doesn't only look good. It also has to be comfortable to you and everyone else you'll be sharing your home with.

Of course, part of any good design plan will be furniture hardware. There isn't accurately a scarcity of these materials right now so, again, there's no reason to shop hurriedly. If you think you're ready to let go of that thirty-year-old canopied mahogany bedroom furniture, then take your time looking for a fitting replacement. And do not forget to measure what you have to measure to ensure that the furniture hardware you get actually looks good and fits well with the piece to which you'll be attaching it.

When you talk about redesigning your home, you'll absolutely want it to be changing for the better and one way to ensure that is not only to get better furniture. Space is always a key consideration. No matter how expensive your furniture set is, from the dining room to your guest room, poor arrangement won't make it work. If you simply have a home too small to have room for your furniture, that's another problem. In both cases, you probably won't be happy with the result.

A very important consideration in home design then is furniture hardware because they can change the way your room looks as a whole. If your home is too cramped, imagine the scratches and bumps that those pieces will have to endure. Imagine how this ultimately affects their longevity.

Besides that, a home is supposed to be its dwellers' haven and that is something impossible when space is not even available for them to move around liberally. That means for any type of ornament, furniture hardware or accessory, you have to think of the way they'll blend in with your other furniture. Otherwise, you could be defeating the entire purpose of giving your home a complete new look.

Get The Latest Lawn Mowers For Sale

By Peter Green

These days it is important to make sure that one keeps down the cost of living as much as possible. Hard economic times have made us more and more aware of the fact that we have to save as much of our income as possible. This means that we have to make good purchase decisions and it is therefore a good idea to make sure you get the best lawn mowers for sale.

There are many things to consider before you decide to buy a lawn mower and it is very important to ensure that you have every angle covered before the final decision is made. To ensure that you make the right decision, there are a number of simple steps to follow that will make sure you are on the right track.

The first thing that has to be taken into consideration is the amount that you are actually going to use the lawn mower. You have to ask yourself how regularly you will need to mow the lawn and then also the next question is to know how much grass there is that has to be cut. If the amount of grass is very little and the mower is only for your home use then it would of course be the best idea to get a smaller lawn mower. If the opposite is true and you have to do a large amount of grass quite often, then look for something of a slightly bigger size that would be more suited to a task of this nature.

The answers to these questions will not only give you the size of the lawn mower that you need, they will also help you determine what kind of powered model you are going to get. An electrical mower is a very good idea for those that have small lawns and that allow the lawn mower within easy distance of a power source. In those situations where getting a power source is difficult, rather choose another type of engine as no one wants to have to deal with electrocution thanks to reams of extension cord.

There are other sources of power and these are often more suited to bigger lawn mowers because of the nature of the way they make the engines run. These are either petrol or diesel powered lawn mowers. Make sure that you are very comfortable operating these machines though as they do have more power than the electrical models.

For those that live in a small place, it could even be worthwhile considering a very small lawn mower that does not require any power except that of the operator. Even though this is old fashioned, it is the most environmentally friendly option and definitely good for your health as well - thanks to the exercise.

Ensure that all of these aspects are taken into account when you decide on which model is going to be the best for you. In addition, you need to decide on if its going to be a new model or not, there are bound to be some great second hand options given that the market is so fragile.

Take all of these aspects into consideration when you decide to look at lawn mowers for sale as these will be the ones that make sure you make the best purchase decision.

What Makes Furniture Excellent

By Kelly Kim

Wood furniture can be fascinating but if you want to really want to appreciate it, you should know how to check its quality. It may sound complicated as there are many different types of wood furniture, but it's actually a very simple job if you know what to look for in assessing the wood.

Construction of the furniture is obviously a very big factor in terms of beauty, function and durability. Checking joints and strength is basic in getting an idea of the furniture's quality. Remember that good joints should never be stapled and glue should not show anywhere around the joint. As for durability, you will need to look into corner blocks as these are vital in stability.

However, they should not be seen from the outside but affixed on the inside corners. When it comes to desks, there should be dust panels in between the drawers as these are important not just in making the furniture stronger but also in warding off dust. As for back panels that are put up against a wall, remember that they should be generally attached with screws while keeping unexposed parts sanded.

Whether it's modern bedroom furniture or traditional bedroom furniture, the wood itself will indicate how durable it is. Hardwood furniture is those generated from oak, maple, mahogany, teak, walnut, cherry and birch.

Pine, fir, redwood, and cedar are soft woods. Visibly, the hardwoods fare better in terms of durability. On the other hand, modern furniture is now hardly ever made with pure wood. There will be engineered woods that are extensively obtainable and used because of their strength and aptitude to prevent splitting. Engineered woods are also strong, sturdy and stylish.

The wood's finish is one more thing to look into and a nice one would engage sanding and staining. Sanding comes first to make sure that the furniture will be smooth with no rough edges. Sanding the grain will also make it look more attractive with staining as it adds to the natural charm and quality of the wood.

Iris - One Of The South's Oldest Garden Flowers

By Keith Markensen

Through Corinth, Mississippi, a few miles south of the Tennessee state line, is on the southern fringe of the region where peonies can be grown successfully, it was here that I saw one of the finest peony gardens I have seen anywhere. It belonged to Milton Rubel, who began growing and hybridizing peonies decades ago. Once he grew named varieties, but he discarded those and grew only his own crosses. When I was there in early May he had well over a thousand seedlings in bloom; some clumps were twenty years old, while others were young and blooming for the first time. It was an enchanting scene if ever I saw one.

As one travels south, the number of peony varieties that will thrive and bloom well becomes fewer and fewer. In Meridian, Mississippi, approximately one hundred and fifty miles from the Gulf, some gardens have a few clumps that bloom from year to year; however, most gardeners feel that peonies are not worthwhile. If you want to try peonies that far south, I suggest that you plant the single and Japanese types, which do better than the fully double ones.

Irises in the South

The iris is, of course, one of the South's oldest garden flowers; one of my earliest recollections is of the beds of old blue and white flags in my grandmother's yard. The modern iris, however, is not nearly so widely used through the Mid-South as its beauty and adaptability justify. It is true that in several centers, notably Corinth, Jackson and Holly Springs in Mississippi, and in Nashville, Atlanta and Shreveport, there are plantings of some of the country's finest irises, but there are yet many sections where the new and better varieties are grown hardly at all. This is unfortunate, as it is generally agreed that the iris is one of our most dependable perennials.

In the spring I traveled over to Jackson, Mississippi, to see the iris planting of private grower who accumulated a sizable collection of the newer and better varieties.

The grower pointed out that price does not always determine the value of an iris and cordyline plants. It is usually the newer varieties, greatly in demand and limited in supply, that are high priced. Good garden varieties that have been on the market for several years may be had for a fraction of the cost of the very new introductions. June and October are the best months in the South for reworking iris beds and making new plantings or cordyline plant care, The iris enthusiast recommends planting the rhizomes on a small ridge with the feeder roots spread out and extending down into the soil. The rhizomes themselves are barely covered with soil; the tops of them are usually exposed after a heavy rain has settled the soil around them.

Dividing Daylilies

Since August is the accepted month for dividing and replanting daylilies as well as for making new plantings, I feel that perhaps many gardeners are dividing clumps more often than is necessary. While strong divisions will bloom the first year, it is not until the clumps are three or four years old that you can expect good, strong bloomscapes with the maximum number of flower buds. And one large clump makes a better show in the garden than half a dozen small ones.

Moving Companies: You Could Be Underestimating Your Packing Now

By Rachelle Onifelli

Employ a trained person who knows how to pack your belongings if you want to have all pieces arrive in one piece at your new destination. However, as a way to save some moolah, lots of people decide to pack by themselves.

If you don't want to hire movers, you need to really take charge of packing and get started now, so that you will have plenty of time for the unforeseen issues that may arise. Start the packing process as soon as you can, because it takes a good deal of planning and execution.

To start with, make a check list of things that need to be packed. Before you pack your possessions, you should consult your mover or inquire online about the most appropriate methods of packing your stuff. You should be especially careful about the way you pack frail objects.

Make sure you stock up on enough packaging supplies. You can always ask for empty cartons at the wine shop or grocery store nearby. These cartons can be useful when packing small items like cooking utensils, clothing, and other knickknacks. To keep your items safe and undamaged, you should consider purchasing plastic containers. These containers can also be used for other storage purposes after you have completed your move.

Wrap frail objects with bubble wrap or your clothes. Old newspapers are great for this! It may leave stains on clothes as wells on other things.

Labeled shipping boxes with inerasable ink and use reinforced shipping tape to tightly wrap these shipping boxes. To make unpacking easier, mark your boxes clearly.

When the boxes are sealed, the top must be flat. Over packing can result in damaged products. Mark the boxes which contain fragile items. You should also label the boxes with important stuff which you want to be unloaded first.

To ensure that your possessions do not get lost while in transit, you should write your name at the top of each box. It is a good idea to make a list of boxes and their contents in case anything gets lost or damaged.

Keep scissors or a good knife at hand, they will be useful when you unpacking. These things should be included on your shopping list while you are starting to prepare to pack.

In order to see what kind of clothes you've packed, use clear garbage bags. Still, don't use thin gear which can rip and destroy easily. For this grounds, many poignant companies don't like their consumers using waste baggage as packing materials. So, purchase the thickest bags possible and try to minimize their use.

You should not forget this one final important thing. Movers are responsible for any damage done to your items while they are moving them from one place to another. However, if the cartons are packed by the owner, the mover is only responsible for the damage to contents caused by external damage to the cartons.

The meaning of this is that if you do not pack your belongings properly, you will be responsible for any damage to your items. Although, the mover has the right to refuse a carton that is packed improperly and would ask the owner to repack it.

To steer clear of misfortune, you should ensure yourself whether every one of the stuff is properly filled and all the cartons are cautiously preserved.

Frankly, it might not be tricky to light, but it is tough to light well. Since no one desires their outdoors to appear like an grade schooler tossed up some holiday lights, it's useful to hold in mind some common mistakes.

Lack of a Goal

When creating an outdoor lighting design, your first concern ought to be what you want to achieve. Safety, security, spotlighting, overall artistry " there are lots of different goals for outdoor lighting. Make sure yours is decisively in mind before you start off. Knowing your goal will allow you to plan more efficiently, saving time, money, and likely annoyance.

Lifeless Placement of Lights

When lighting a path, don't plunge into the trap of an equal strip of lights. It's visually boring; you're not lighting an airport landing strip. Space lights at unbalanced intervals, making sure to equally light the lane and be satisfying to the eye.

Conceal landscape lighting fixtures unless they're intended to be a focal point. The attention should be drawn to the features lit, not the cause of the lighting.

Incorrect Quantity of Lights

Although more does not equate better, you also don't want to leave pronounced shade areas. Areas of darkness attract the eye to the lights instead of the things being lit. Don't overdo it " you don't want your yard to look resembling a car lot " but don't under do it, either.

Unwise Direction of Lights

Incorrectly aimed lighting can generate glares, distract passing drivers, or even shine into the eyes of people outside. It'd be a shame to ruin an evening backyard party because your lighting blinded your friends.

Wrong Type of Lights

It is not the most exciting area, but the kind of illumination you use seriously affects the overall look. A vertical change of 10 feet could require you to go from a 20 watt to a 30 watt bulb. Halogen bulbs emulate moonlight's bluer color. Low-voltage bulbs can light without overpowering. Garage and porch lighting might have to be adjusted so their bright lights don't hinder an effect. These considerations are critical to accomplish a unified appearance.

Wrong Colors of Lights

Conduct great forethought with colored lights or filters. You do not want your lighting design to appear like something more fitting for a Ringling Bros. Circus than your backyard. You may want to steer clear of colored lights in general since they can frequently look garish. Filters can be used to good effect, however only if done subtly. Don't use a separate color filter in every light.

Every home offers its own palette on which certified landscapers can make distinct looks to best compliment the landscape. The slightest wattage differences, changes in lighting angles, and placement of lighting fixtures will reveal a completely different look. If it all seems overwhelming, look into contracting a professional landscaper. They will handle every one of these obscure details and get the job done correctly, making your outdoors look its very best.

Building a Backyard Koi Pond

By Leslie Patton

Location of your pond is one of the most important factors you must figure out before you start. Your pond needs to be out of direct sunlight if possible. It would be best if it isn't directly under trees because of falling debris. It needs to be close to electricity and also close enough that you can enjoy it!

The size of you pond depends on the space you have and the type of fish you want. If you are sure you want koi you need to have a larger pond. Koi can grow to be quite large. A koi pond needs to be at least 15 feet by 10 feet. If you were thinking about a smaller pond, you may have to go with goldfish.

There is several types of material you can use to build you pond. These are concrete, pre-molded liners, flexible liners, PVC, and rubber. Flexible liners are becoming more common because there is so many different things you can do with them.

Adding terraces to your pond is a good idea. These terraces look like shelves inside your pond. They give different depths of water for your fish and also provide a convenient place to put your plants.

A waterfall or fountain is a great addition to your pond. It provides much needed aeration to your pond. This improves the water quality and the health of your fish.

Plants look nice in a pond. They give your fish a place to hide and they also help improve water quality. Fish can eat your plants. Be sure to add greens to your fish food.

Monitoring the water quality and adding filtration is very important. The pH and the hardness of the water is the most important. Biological filters are very popular and they only need to be cleaned once or twice a year. Your pump needs to be able to turn over the complete volume of the pond every three hours. A skimmer may also be helpful to get rid of extra debris. This keeps your pump from working so hard.

When you are ready to start digging your pond lay out a rope in the design you want. When you start digging add your shelves. As a general guide the first shelf can be twelve inches deep and twelve inches wide and then go on to the next one. Watch for sharp rocks that can tear your liner. Next you can add your plumbing for your filter, overflow pipe, and drain. Be sure to add a 1-2" layer of sand in the bottom and on the shelves of your pond.
