The basement is the most underrated room of the home. Because it does not have a specific use, such as a dining room or a living room, it can be used for anything. Some people never use it for more than a storage area, but if you used a Long Island basement finishing company, it could be much, much more.
Basement finishing companies can do wonders to any basement. Mine as a kid was very basic. No real walls, concrete floors, a very skeletal look at a basement that a lot of people have. I always used to play down there when I was a kid so I loved it the way it was. But, when it got refinished, the whole feel of it changed. The walls were put in and painted a nice off white. There was a nice carpet put in over the concrete with a couple of throw rugs. Overall, it was a much nicer place to sit and relax.
Unfinished basements can have a lot of problems. My basement as a kid would always flood because the windows were not put in well. The place outside the window would fill up with debris and cause the whole area to flood, which would seep into the basement. This was a pretty big issue, mostly because I would be the one who would have to go in and clean it out. Another reason to finish your basement.
As a young child, when my mother decided that the basement needed a facelift, it made me very sad. My playroom was gone, and what was left was a beautifully done room that could be considered a living room. It was a great addition to the house that as a kid I could not fathom in the slightest. I was just upset that the room that was previously just for me and my brother, had become an actual place that people wanted to spend time in. The company that did it, Town and Country, did a fantastic job.
There are just too many uses not to refinish your basement. Just having a space that you can do anything with has to feel good for a homeowner. The way you use it is completely up to you. Whether it be a home gym or a new movie viewing room, it will end up being your favorite room in the house. If someone is watching television in the living room and you want to watch the game, a flat screen in the basement could be your savior.
