Planning Plumbing For A New Home

By Scott Rodgers

While building a new home, apart from other things, great importance should be given to home plumbing. You should be very careful while selecting the plumbing products for your home. They should be such that, they match your new home design.

Though the entire plumbing system is behind the walls, but one should keep on eye on it as well. It is very important to carefully plan your plumbing design, otherwise it can lead to serious problems.

It is always advisable to get the required knowledge about the plumbing fixtures and other accessories before purchasing them. You should always know what are you buying, what for and will it fit the layout of your new house.

It is recommended consulting with your plumber extensively about your options for home plumbing, pipes and tap ware. A plan detailing where you are going to put toilets, taps and sinks should be drawn up. Consider where the laundry will be situated, where the showers and baths will go and whether there is anything else that will require water inlets and outlets.

Most plumbers should be able to supply and install the pipework for your home's plumbing system. When it comes to the cost of household plumbing, there are generally three tiers - cheap, middle of the road and good quality and you should not scrimp when it comes to plumbing. The old saying, 'you get what you pay for' definitely applies to plumbing.

More and more people these days are switching to water-saving systems. Many such products include : water-saving tanks, polyethylene pipes, water-efficient shower heads, taps etc. Though these products cost you more but are beneficial for the long run.

All plumbing products are given a star rating to indicate water efficiency, so look for a high rating. It's also possible to have hot water pipes insulated against heat loss.

Whatever you plan for your new house, do consult a professional plumber as early as possible so that you can discuss it with them and things can get started as per your requirements.
