Add Ambiance With Luminary Candles

By Kathleen Ward

Creative lighting is key factor when it comes to decorating for certain events such as weddings, parties, holidays, tribute ceremonies, romantic evenings, or just to add a different feel to the room. The brightness and the steadiness of the light depends greatly on the choice of the illumination source. Luminary candles can be a wonderful way to create ambiance for any kind of occasion.

A large selection of casings are available for these products. Vellum and paper bags, plastic tubes, beveled glass cups, mason jars, and hollowed cylinders of wax are among the popular choices, though there are so many more. Depending on the type and style of the chosen holder, the entire atmosphere of an event, space or room can be altered.

Generating a unique mix of soothing and brightness, this particular light source can give any occasions a special energy. The same product is capable of bringing fun and excitement to one event while shedding a reflective, romantic or subdued air across another. In order to meet a variety of safety concerns and needs, there are a multitude of styles available.

Tealights are a traditional form of this product, emitting a traditional flickering light which usually glows for a few hours. They are typically housed and rounded tin containers measuring approximately 2" in diameter and being 1/2" deep. This style requires supervised use because they produce an actual wax lit flame that although very low, can still pose a risk to safety should its encasement be knocked over or debris land inside of it.

A liquid fuel is a good source when a brighter and more durable, yet still natural, light is desired. These products are made up of wick that extends from the metal lid of a glass container filled with some type of oil which saturates the cloth. These are available in many sizes with the capability of lasting no more than an hour to excess of twenty-four and ready for use practically anywhere.

Certain precautions should always be observed when using these options. They should never be left unattended as they are a potential fire hazard should the item in which they are encased be tipped over, which is why sand is highly recommended to weigh the item down. The open flame needs to be protected from wind gusts and kept away from close contact with flammable substances.

To avoid the risks of fire, an alternative flameless variety is also available which has the same flicker and brightness as natural lights. These are typically round discs with an LED bulb at the top which may be set to emit the illusion of a pulsing flame or a steady burn. They are available in both battery powered and electrical varieties and have extended life spans.

The combination of lighting source and creative decorative casings, allows one to give a unique feel to practically any occasion in a way that suits an individual's particular needs. This warm illumination can ignite the same feelings of comfort or happiness one feels when sitting in front of the fireplace or hanging out around a fire pit. It is a wonderful way to generate the perfect ambiance to help make the event a success.
