The Importance Of Synthetic Grass

By Marci Glover

There are so many benefits that are associated with installation of artificial lawn. This material is normally made from synthetic fiber that makes the ground appear natural, just like the normal turf. It is mainly used in stadiums and sport arenas. Apart from this, synthetic grass is also used in commercial and residential places to add value to the properties.

The manufacturing process is a little bit elaborate. It involves the use of plastic granules that are mixed with other additives and some coloring agents. This formed mixture is then heated and pressed through the extruders. This process usually results into creation of fibers which assume the shape of the extruder head that was used.

After the fibers are made, blades are reinforced. This process makes them resistant to extreme temperature changes and also tough. The formed fibers are then cooled around the spools and taken to the industry for the manufacturing process.

The material brought to the manufacturer is then placed on a machine with needles. This process is called tufting. This is an operation that uses the same principle as that of the sewing machine. The types of fibers used, distance of the needles and fiber heights will determine the appearance of the end product. For the formed material to be secured in the backing, liquid mixture is added and hardened in the oven so as to fix the fibers. From here, the manufacturing process is now complete.

The turf is known to have a lot advantages as compared to natural grass. Studies show that the use of this turf has led to fewer cranial and neural injuries. Injuries sustained by the players while on this grass are less severe thus preventing loss of time due to these minimal injuries. This is because; landing on the artificial turf during a game is less traumatic when compared to landing on the natural turf.

The artificial turf is also environmental friendly. As it gets warmer, there is pressure that will restrict the use of water. Also, this lawn does not require treatment by use of pesticides. Mowing is also not needed. It requires little maintenance which mainly entails brushing off the twigs or leaves from surrounding trees. Once it has been installed, the porous backing will allow for passage of rain water, hence drying much faster.

The synthetic materials are a suitable choice for use since an individual can lay them over tarmac or sand. Therefore, they are able to act as perfect replacement for yards that are unappealing. Sometimes, it is almost impossible to grow grass in areas that are shaded. In such situations, these artificial materials can easily be used to cover the surfaces.

One can purchase an artificial turf from any retail store that sells the product. There are different designs for this kind of turf. The choice is not limited and an individual needs not to worry about the process of installation since that is easy.
