Staying Safe Whenever Out On The Streets

By Kharl B Robanson

With the rate of crime increasing with every passing month, people who are out of work and in serious debt at times turn to begging or, worse, petty crime. Thus, many people have an interest in keeping themselves safe while on the streets.

People living in the low-income communities are more at risk of being attacked and mugged than other people in the country. It pays for you to know how to defend yourself utilizing some of the many non lethal self defense tools and techniques currently available.

Self defense is open to anyone, regardless of body type and also skill, through the use of devices just like pepper spray, stun guns, or personal alarms. These non lethal weapons can incapacitate an opponent long enough for you to escape.

Pepper spray works by creating an unpleasant burning feeling in the eyes and on the skin of any individual it hits. Stun guns work by overriding a person's capacity to move via electric shock, making them fall over in pain.

Personal alarms, on the other hand, are deterrents as opposed to actual weapons. When turned on, they give off a powerful, high-frequency, alarming noise which could drive an opponent away in fear and inform anyone nearby to your situation.

But handling yourself effectively while out on the town can be just as important as the weapons you utilize. It is best to always be aware of your surroundings, as bad guys usually prey on individuals who are preoccupied, typically with their phones.

Studies show that people are less likely to be attacked in crowded, well-lit areas so you should try to avoid isolated places where nobody is around. Finally, in terms of safety, it helps to be a little paranoid.

If you don't feel safe in an area, you probably aren't, and you ought to leave. It is much better to be paranoid and safe, rather than nave and sorry. To me, the best non lethal self defense technique would be to stay away from fights altogether.
