Window Fans Needs Timely Cleaning

Window fans can be a less expensive and more Earth-friendly alternative to supplement or even replace air conditioning, provided you use them properly. This cooling method can make it uncomfortably cool inside. Using window fans to help cool your home can be a very efficient and economical way to provide comfort as well as helping the environment.

No matter how advanced your window fan is, one should always remember that your appliance demands for frequent subsistence. Let us see some of the common cleaning tips of the window fan. Since, regular cleaning of the fan add years to its life, just go for its timely cleaning.

Leaving fans on for substantial portions of the day will shorten their lives, especially if they are left in the window during rainstorms. In order to regulate the air in the room and to maintain the inside temperature of the house, window fans also posses a thermostat. The periodical subsistence of the thermostat will increase the overall performance of the appliance.

Overtime a lot of debris gets accumulated on the appliance that restricts the unit to work efficiently. Even the grills of the fan should be detached and cleaned properly. You can use a small brush to clean the parts that are inaccessible. If you have decided to clean your window fan this time, look for whether the power supply is disconnected or not. Before getting into the task first, shut off the electricity from the mains.

Caring for the window fan also includes cleaning the blades of the fan. Using a damp cloth, remove all the dregs and grim from each blade of the fan. Be careful that you don't touch the fan motor.

If your window fan is less efficient, check for any foreign particles on the fan motor that might be obstructing the normal functioning of the fan. Carefully vacuum the inside part of the appliance ensuring that you do not disconnect the wires therein. Cleaning the motor can be done with the help of high- pressure air hose.

Having done with the cleaning process, you can now put back the grill at its place. Safely turn on the power supply and check your appliance if working properly or not.

Don't operate a fan that isn't working properly, especially if the blades aren't moving at all or you detect a burning smell. Such a fan could pose a fire hazard. Better call in an electrician.
