Tips To Make The Most In Your Small Bathroom

By Ronald Whelan

Just because you have a small area in your bathroom does not mean that it can't look fabulous. Learn how to make the most out of your small bathroom space with these decorating ideas and tips. One idea is changing your current sink basin to a corner basin saving much needed room on a wall.

These can be found in odd and unique shapes to fit the corner space like triangular and round. Add in compact furniture these will give a streamlined look and create much needed space for storage. Any cabinets should be slim as well which give a look of more space and not cluttered by larger chunkier types.

You can also use the unused space on back of the bathroom door for items like towels and toiletries even jewelry. This can be done for jewelry with the use of small hooks screwed into the back of the door and for towels by using over the door towel holders. They even make cabinets to fit over your toilet.

Any mirror you add to your bathroom should be large as mirrors tend to make the area look bigger. It should be positioned if you have a window to reflect the suns natural lighting as well. One major thing people do that creates even smaller space is using dark colors.

Neutral colors, pale tones and vibrant light colors work perfect for small areas. Accents when using vibrant colors should be low key and pale if using pale tones for paint then you can use the vibrant hues to decorate with. Large tile should be used on flooring in neutral colors and be limited in patterns.

Using smaller sections in patterns like a mosaic look or with minimal detailing works wonders for small places in making the area around the walls and shower look larger. Colors that work well in these areas are in the blue and aqua green tones.

Change out a regular shower curtain for a glass door instead if you have a shower tub combination. If you are redoing everything think about a corner shower stall that will free up a lot more space for you. Also putting things in storage areas and out of sight keeps it looking uncluttered and gives more space too.

If your vanity is open in style then make use of storage cubes or baskets to keep everything in its place. Fixtures should be smaller in detailing which will compliment the streamlined look of furniture and other additions. The use of a lot of wall sconces and other lighting if no window is installed, helps illuminate the area and gives the look of natural light.

You can place towels and robes and clean clothes on larger styled wall hooks. Using drawers to hold cosmetics and shaving supplies as well as wash rags and shower items will also help create much needed storage areas. If you have a smaller tub or shower you you can find shower and bath caddies.

To make the most out of your small bathroom space remember smaller items like furniture, fixtures and storage looks and works better in smaller designs. Artwork and decorative items should be kept to a minimum as well. A smaller place can look just as beautiful and inviting as any larger area.
