Suggestions Concerning How To Protect Your Own Room Against Crooks

By Granford A Blakmon

When I started college, I thought I was ready for any kind of obstacle. That was right up until somebody came silently into my own room through the door when I was in bed and took my laptop and also cell phone.

I scared myself thinking that this could have been a whole lot worse. I consoled myself feeling that, at least, the crook didn't damage me or kill me. I did not know what to do to be able to make my room a secure spot to be in right up until a classmate told me to obtain a dorm room alarm immediately.

I didn't want a common burglar alarm which required wiring to install. I wanted something that I could pick up and fit in my bag whenever I left the room, something I could readily use if required in any room I was in.

That classmate showed me the home alarm she used. It was a Super Door Stop Alarm.

This great tiny alarming device is user friendly. You merely put it on the floor against the door to be able to stop the door from getting opened. When someone attempts to open the door, it hits the pressure plate switch, which sounds a 115 dB alarm.

One thing I love about this doorstop alarm is that it isn't one of those security alarms that scream on and on until you switch this off. If an intruder realizes he's not getting past your own door and closes it again, then the pressure on the switch is released and the alarming sound switches off.

This particular door alarm has a movement sensor that can tell if someone is tampering with the device and goes off. You can adjust the sensor's sensitivity.

I ask myself why I needed to wait for someone to take my expensive devices before I gave dorm security a thought. However if ever someone tries to break into my room now while I am within it, there is no way he's getting past my own dorm room alarm this time around.
