Decorations For Spicing Up Your Home

By Mike Hanson

It's true that we can tell a lot about the person through her home. Personality is seen in the design and decorations. Outgoing people have more bold colors and flashy accessories while the more reserved ones have subtle colors and minimal decors.

This makes DIY home decorating a preferred option because of the creative liberty and personalized designing of the homeowners. With things you like and perhaps those you've hand-picked yourself, home life becomes more pleasurable.

Most homeowners nowadays are more practical in decorating. They prefer items that are both functional and decorative. Instead of just an ottoman, one that has storage is preferred. Boxes for keeping trinkets are also used as decorations. Area rugs are sought after pieces because they are both floor decors and floor coverings. Area rugs also make unique wall hangings.

Area rugs are truly one of the most functional and multi purpose home decor accessory. They protect your body and your floor. Area rugs also add to your theme. By using an area rug you can draw together the colors of your theme. In the case of a commercial theme, like that above, an area rug may allow you to add your theme to the floor. This is much preferable to stopping your theme at eye level and ignoring the floor.

Because of the availability of area rugs in various colors and design, it's not hard to match your existing accessories and to meet your favorite look for your home. Glass decors will look more sophisticated with a plush, light-colored area rug for example. A beach house themed home will look more realistic with bamboo-made rugs in earth colors.

Next time you redecorate remember that the essential aspect of every decor is your personality. If you do not follow your instincts you will not be happy with your new design. Try to pick a theme you are familiar with and build on it. You will be much more satisfied with the results, than if you simply throw together a look.
