Budget Friendly Room Design

By Leon Willis

Re-designing your room doesn't have to be expensive. Sometimes you just need a fresh coat of paint or even newer dcor added into your room. Here are a few budget friendly tips on how to make a facelift on an existing style without putting a hole in your pocket.

No matter what time of the year, paint can instantly give a room an entirely new look. Paint is fairly affordable and can be utilized in various ways to give a room new color and even hone your theme and style decorating skills. Choose one wall of the room and paint it with the color of your choice without thinking of the rest of the room. Add some style to a painted empty wall with the use of faux paint techniques or stencils and stamps.

Adding slip covers on existing furniture in a room can make the furniture appear like new pieces. Also painting a table which is a basic wood color to a black or even an off white will make that simple piece of furniture more modern.

Adding an area rug to any room which is carpeted already or has hardwood floors will add a drastic change to the entire feel of the room. With an area rug, you'll have options for patterns or even shapes to add texture into your dcor. Area rugs are a great choice if you are living in a rental unit or even an apartment building since you sometimes can't make permanent changes. They are very inexpensive which means you can purchase two to switch the dcor up as often as you'd like.

Adding decorative pillows is another great way to add color and change to a room. Placing pattern pillows on solid colored furniture will create a great color palette and design.

Decorative pillows can be cheap and even available at yard sales for nearly nothing. They can also soften up a look of a room without making it feel too cluttered.

Pillows don't necessarily need to be used in living rooms or bedrooms. You can add them near the fireplace on the floor for extra seating and also a cozier feeling for guests. They also can brighten up a room's appearance.

Mirrors are also another inexpensive item you can purchase for your room. You can place them on the wall making a design as some come or just placing a larger one on the biggest wall. This would then be the focal point. If you have a room you are remodeling and it has a fireplace, place a great mirror above this to enhance room's brightness.
