How Important Is Historic Carpet Patterns To History

By Jose Graham

There are many things that has happened in the long history of humanity. One of the more interesting things that people have done over the past few centuries is the act of weaving and sewing. This practice has been around since the start of humankind and it has brought many items that people admire and love today.

The need for clothes was evident since man came out of the jungles and into the open planes and caves. The winter was quite harsh and human beings did not have anything that would protect them from the harsh winter air. So, people found a solution to this problem, create some clothing for themselves, which naturally led to the innovation of the historic carpet patterns in the process of this.

The first kind of clothing that people made were from animal hide and hair. This is because animal parts are specially there to enable these animals to survive the cold weather. So, man took advantage of this when they went out to hunt and took the animals pelts as materials to make into the clothing that was needed by many.

This was hard at first but eventually people learned how to do. Now back then, the design of these things did not really matter. People were more practical back than then they are today, so most clothes were crudely made. This changed with the rise of culture and other kinds of beliefs that came with it.

The middle ages were known for their interest in other cultures in the east. There were many things that were considered to be luxurious that came from the unknown lands of Asia. It was this time period that the various kingdoms took a heavy interest in works of arts and other kinds of items that fit their interest.

The particular item in question is the object known as a carpet. Carpets are ornaments that acted as floor coverings. From the B. C. Era until the modern world came about, these objects as been around. It is traditionally made by hand through the process of weaving and the material used is wool.

The factor that makes it so special is the various designs that can be woven into it when it is being made. It is very much considered to be a piece of art and was covet depending on what kind of image was woven in it. The kinds of pictures that are depicted would show what culture the different kinds of carpets had come from.

The east and middle east were very well known for the beautiful designs that were brought over by the merchants. These merchants often travelled to Asia via a trade route to look for things that could be bought or traded for and bring them back to Europe. This practice introduced the Asian culture early on.

In the modern world of today, the carpet is still a very luxurious and highly valued item. In fact, most upper class to upper middle class homes have it as a staple of home decoration. The expensive ones are still bought by the rich people who can afford the more exotic and rare stuff.
