The Lazy House Keeper's Guide To Beating Dust

By Aiden Mundt

If there is one thing that will always accumulate and be present in your home uninvited, it would be dust. All the cleaning, sweeping and vacuuming aside, you can't hope to get your home to be dust-free. Yes, it can get frustrating but stop letting it get you down. With these sure ways to beat the dust, you will no longer look at house cleaning the same ever again.

Regularly cleaning the filter of your air conditioner is a best practice. Just make sure that you do it more often during the summers when the AC is running overtime. Basically, you just need to slide the filter out and vacuum up any dust that has accumulated on it. If the dust and dirt has really piled up and more than three months has passed since you did last, just replace it with a new filter. Easy.

Make use of doormats by entrance doors. Why? Your shoes are rated the number one dust and dirt carriers. Also remind everyone to wipe their feet before entering your home.

Cleaning dirty screen doors is now made easy with dry sponge so take advantage of it. No more of the traditional method of taking the screens out back to hose them down. Simply go to a pet store, ask for a dry sponge that's usually used to remove pet hair off the furniture and get that on those dirty, dusty screens.

If you don't have the time to take down the curtains and wash them, you can simply vacuum them using a brush attachment. However, see to it that you wash the ones you can at least once a month. Otherwise dry clean them at least annually since curtains are dust magnets responsible for certain allergies.

When you turn on your ceiling and box fans you're simply sending a plume of dust that has accumulated on the blades around your house. This dust will usually settles on the floor or table tops so it's smart to make sure the blades of these electrical devices get a good once over periodically. You'd be surprised how gross they can get.

Carpets are the ultimate dust collectors and they need constant attention. Ideally you need to vacuum your carpeted floors once a week if you don't want dust to settle in. Just because you can't see the dust, doesn't mean it's not buried there just below the surface.

Keep your hardwood floors dust free by damp mopping them. This is better than sweeping or vacuuming. After mopping, you can dust-proof the floors using liquid floor wax. Let the wax dry and finish off with a dry wipe down.

There you have it. Some hard to beat dust beating tips you can live by and avoid cleaning by. You didn't think it would be that easy didn't you? For those of you who are not used to cleaning and dust-proofing your house, it may seem like hard work, but as you go along it will become easier.
